Printing and Mounting

The digital images vary in size and resolution. They're large files approximately 80 Mb each prior to output. I output small versions of each image to verify color correctness and image quality before making a final print. The current printing technologies and materials are much improved and allow prints to be made on a wide variety of substrates including cotton, silk, and high quality watercolor papers.

The prints are extremely high resolution 4/color digital prints made by a giclee (ink jet) process. Most prints are laminated with a protective coating and permanently mounted on a hand finished aluminum plate. The aluminum plate is then fastened to a protective sheet of 3/8" Plexiglas and spacers are placed behind the mount to "suspend" the image an even distance from the wall. Other mounting options are available.

Size of Prints

The prints vary in size due to their original height width ratios and digital resolution. Typical print sizes range from 24" up to 50" in either or both height and width dimensions. The aluminum and Plexiglas typically add another 6 to 10 inches to the overall height and width of each piece.
