Early nonobjective art asked questions regarding the nature
of art itself. Questions like - What is art? What effect do
the elements of form, color, and composition have on a viewer?
And what is beauty? Abstract Expressionism went on to explore
the internal emotional and subconscious issues of the artists
themselves as expressed in visual forms. Those questions and
explorations spawned much debate and opinion that has had
nearly a hundred years to settle. The universal acknowledgment
of such artists as Mondrian, Rothko, De Kooning, Pollock,
and Ryman indicates that these questions have been answered.
Nonobjective art and expressionism have continued for the
last half a century to cover these issues over and over again.
I believe those concepts were taken to their logical end some
time ago and that it's time to move on.
I am striving with my art to reach a new level. To do something
more relevant to our interconnected world. To create something
never before seen while not abandoning the familiar. To blur
the lines and build bridges between traditional disciplines
and the developing aesthetic of the computer in art. To amalgamate
into visual form all that I can regarding our world.
